Do you have that list and are you checking it twice…to make sure you’ve thanked everyone for their contribution to your organization this past year??  Please make a note and don’t forget to include those private foundations and corporate gurus that entrusted their grant funds with you.

As we all know, just like individuals give to your organization because of a personal connection to you and your cause, foundations and corporations also give in good faith.  What you have presented to them in a grant application was enough to convince them to establish a sacred relationship with you.  Out of the hundreds of proposals they received, YOURS was one they selected to fund.

It goes without saying that a personal thank you note on your organization’s letterhead is a must as soon as approval notification is received.  But take it a step further and use your social media savvy to show them that you continue to appreciate them day in and day out.  Here are just a few ideas:Read More

Blogging – Show your appreciation by mentioning their support in a blog post (just be sure to check with the foundation’s program officer to ensure that this is acceptable.)  This is mainly for corporate givers as they will love the attention you bring to their good deeds.

Tweeting – Don’t just update your community on you and your organization’s needs – give shout-out’s to your supporters!

Facebook Page Updates – Alright, you’re getting the hang of this now, aren’t you?  Your organization’s Facebook page is a great way to communicate and show your thankfulness for grant support.

As members of the nonprofit community, much emphasis is placed on asking – it’s not only our job but our privilege to help support the causes we raise money for – but remember to be grateful as well.  Be gracious and prove to grant funders that they made a great choice in partnering with you.
